Private Directed Retreats

Private Directed Retreats may be arranged at a time convenient to your schedule. Retreatants usually come two to eight days, bringing your own food for breakfast, lunch and dinner in our guest kitchen. Private Spiritual Direction is available. You may complement your retreat experience by participating in prayer times and liturgies with the Benedictine brothers of nearby Weston Priory.

Two or three times per year we offer a month-long retreat which follows the pattern of the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius of Loyola. Other possible themes for these 30-day retreats are Inner Peace, Discernment, the Enneagram, or Spirituality in the Second Half of Life. Call to choose your personal focus for the month and to arrange dates with Catherine that are convenient for your schedule.

Directed Retreat Weekends

We offer many Directed Retreat Weekends on a variety of themes for individuals, couples and small groups of up to 12 persons. Conferences, prayer times and sharing on these weekends explore prayer, contemplation, community, challenges and strategies to living a more spiritual life in the midst of the world. The St. Joseph Room, with comfortable seating, fireplace, brick and honey-pine walls provides a warm atmosphere for conferences and sharing. Catherine Joanne, Spiritual Director, presents her reflections in a relaxed style with Catherine’s own musical compositions inserted throughout. Call to arrange dates for your couples, prayer or parish group.

Spiritual Direction

Spiritual Direction is a faith-based, confidential conversation for help with processing the events and circumstances of your life. Some of the fruits of this kind of session are a sense of the next good step in some area of your life, ideas, inspiration, a shift in attitude or perspective, greater understanding of personalities and human development, self-acceptance, peace, freedom from anger, forgiveness, compassion, etc.
Catherine Joanne is available for Spiritual Direction with individuals or couples in Vermont throughout the year at St. Joseph’s Dwelling Place and in southern New Jersey during the following weeks in 2019:

  • February 11
  • March 11
  • April 22
  • May 13

We Need Your Help to Continue Our Ministry!

As we celebrate our 25th year of spiritual ministry here in Vermont, we pause to thank you for your generous support of St. Joseph’s Dwelling Place. Offering small or large donations, one time gifts or monthly pledges, people who have been touched and blessed by this Dwelling Place and Catherine Joanne’s ministry on the road have made it possible for us to continue to welcome individuals, couples and groups of all ages and walks of life to grow in peace, hope and spirituality.

Even as we thank you, we turn to you again, and ask if you would consider a small or large gift to help us continue this work of hospitality at St. Joseph’s Dwelling Place. Perhaps you would consider placing us on a monthly gift schedule, an automatic payment plan, or even including us in your will as part of the spiritual legacy that you leave behind for future generations.

Whatever you are able to do to assist us will be deeply appreciated, as we move forward with confidence in our mission: to welcome, serve and nurture the presence of God in each guest.

Thank you,

Catherine Joanne
